Road Trip Cargo Space - 2014 Jeep Cherokee Limited Long-Term Road Test
Notes about cargo space as Edmunds editor James Riswick sets out in the long-term 2014 Jeep Cherokee to a place far better suited to its capabilities: snowy Oregon.

1) Seats fold down
2) What do you imagine those roof rails are for?
FWIW, the old XJ Cherokee's cargo area was far worse than this new Cherokee. It had the spare tire mounted vertically on the driver's side taking up a large chunk of cargo space—and if you had the full-size spare, it ate up even more cargo space. In addition there was no split-fold rear seat. Also, the rear seat did not slide forward, and the front passenger seat did not have a fold-flat feature. So while this new Cherokee may not match the roomiest small SUVS in terms of cargo area, it's light-years better than the old Cherokee.
If having max cargo area is at the top of your must-have list, then looking at another vehicle is perhaps what you should be doing.
In the meantime we ordered a 2015 Cherokee Limited with all the options of your long-termer, except in silver. We did add four more options(sunroof, luxury group, engine block heater, and wireless charging pad). It is due to arrive at our dealer in a couple days.
