Finding a broker to purchase a used truck.

I live in the rust belt and would like to buy a used pickup from a salt and sun free area. Looking for a 3/4 ton GMC/Chevy to haul a camper and pull a small boat. I'm wide open. <150K mikes, $8000 max. Pre-2000 is OK if in good condition. I see a lot of nice trucks in Portland, but I don't want to travel and buy under pressure. Does anyone know of a broker for this situation? What kind of fee should I expect? Has anyone used a broker for a used vehicle? Did it work out?

Seems like brokers have lost out to "internet" departments - don't hear too much about them. Some places will take your car somewhere (PepBoys?) for a pre-purchase inspection.
