Our battery light keeps coming on in our 2004 Pacifica. We had a year old battery in it but it was determined it was bad and was replaced last week. The alternator & battery both checked out good after then new battery was installed. A week later (today) the light came on again.

Any suggestions on why it's doing this?

If a year old battery went bad, something has to be a problem. The alternator checks out OK, but a week after a new battery is installed, the light is on again. Could be some kind of wiring/grounding issue.

Couple other thoughts beyond wiring/connection possibility. Had an occurrance once on one of my vehicles where alternater appeared to fail a few miles from home ( Of course on a very cold morning, no cell phone and 3 miles or so walk home). Towed to garage and boost/start and test of charging system initialy seem fine. However the mechanic left it running and wandered off somewhere and another mechanic working nearby noticed a change in the sound and brought it to the attention of my guy, sure enough alternater was wasn't working and replacement in order.

In the old days when battery light came on I would just buy a rebuilt alternater for $35 or so. Somewhere along the line I just happened to hear of replacing brushs. In one of my old Chrysler products the battery light came on and just for ha ha's I rapped on alternater with hammer (not real hard), sure enough light went out. With the thought of brushs I went to parts store and asked, they had them and for about $3 I had a fix.
