Need help deciding - Equinox or Compass?

My wife and I are trying to upgrade from our Mazda 6 to an SUV. We have it narrowed down to the 2014 JEEP Compass and the 2015 Chevy Equinox. I was hoping someone would be able to provide me with their opinions on each to help guide us in this decision.

    The base Chevrolet Equinox just got a $2,400 discount per this forums post, if that helps your decision process. I'd assume similar discounts would apply up the model lines (but you know what they say about assumptions...).

    My understanding is that Chevrolet created a new trim level that has the lower price. Not as many features.

    However, if it were my money, I'd go for the Equinox. The Compass is a very old design and is much smaller inside.

    The Compass is basically a warmed over Dodge Caliber.. A car with no positive attributes..

    Have you driven these cars? Can't imagine you'd pick the Compass after driving both of them.
