Thanks Michaell, was just browsing online and came across a dealer in MA offering Honda CRV EXL AWD for $255/month with 1000 down. Excludes Sales Tax, $595 Lease Acquisition Fee, $135 Registration Fee and $239 Documentation Fee. 39 months - 12k miles/year. First payment due at signing.
- This sounds too good to be true. What do you think about this?

Sales tax is 7% in MA? that works out to about $273/mo. The $1000 down, if you waived it, would add about $26/mo to the payment (1000 / 39).

Advertised deals are usually just OK - you should be able to do better negotiating a selling price on your own.

thanks for your help.. btw I am a newbie when it comes to leasing so please see if my understanding regarding lease payments is correct.
Essentially lease payment consists of depreciation payment plus financing payment plus sales tax.
Is the following calculation correct using the invoice price as the Net Capitalized cost---


1)residual value:
30275 (msrp) x 62percent= 18770

2)depreciation= NCC (invoive) 28587 minus residual value (18770), hence depreciation is 9817 / 39months= 251.71


3)financing portion
add residual plus NCC(INVOICE)= 47357x .00160= 75.77

251.71 plus 75.77= 327.48 plus sales tax


Is my understanding correct?

So for net capitalized cost should I aim for below invoice, what price should I be aiming for 2015 crv exl awd?

Your math is correct.

For net cap cost, I would suggest you head over to the "CR-V Prices Paid" discussion to see what others are paying. Doesn't matter if you lease or buy, the price should be the same.

ok I will check out the 'prices paid forum'. Just to clarify, is net cap cost the OTD price inclusive of all fees and taxes or is it the price before any taxes and fees? Also for comparison, could you provide me the residuals for AWD LX and EX models ? Are the residuals the same for 39/12k and 39/15k lease term?

LX and EX are 63% for both 36/15 and 39/15. Add 2% for 12K miles per year.

great info thanks. For CRV EXL AWD you said the residual is 62% for either 39/15 or 36/15--- do I also add 2 percent for 12k miles? Also could you please explain if net cap cost is the OTD price inclusive of all fees and taxes or is it the price before any taxes and fees?

Yes, the standard adjustment for 12K miles is 2% higher than that for 15K.

Net cap cost is selling price inclusive of all fees and taxes you wish to roll into the lease. Tax obligations vary based on what state you live in.
