Not impressed, typical boring Honda styling... looks too much like a minvan.

Front is a huge miss, Cannot imagine that front end on a new Ridgeline. Too much like a CR-V. I am not a huge Fan of the current Gen Pilot, but at least that has better presence. I think if they softened the top Chrome Brow it would improve but not fix it. That is the bad however I think the profile and rear quarter look very good. The facia will improve most likely with the 2019 refresh. I think the running gear from teh MDX will be a nice edition. I hope they do not neuter the powertrain too much. (to keep MDX up top). This is a hard segment to sell in touring trim. At what will most likely be a $45-50k Price point. I think others would choose the premium badge and give up some tech (since most of us our using phones and other devices for that). That said I welcome new tech and powetrains to Honda. I still perfer the ultra practical Odessey and hope that it gets some of the powertrain advances (9-speed >250HP, finally AWD do miss that in the NE).

Side view is 90% Chevy Traverse. Inoffensive. Current Pilot has done poorly on some comparison tests, I wonder how this one will fare.

Torque vectoring? Does that mean SH-AWD on a non-Acura?

It doesn't look too bad. Side profile looks like a MB GL class.

Looks like a raised Odyssey to me. Looks like we'll stick with our 2011.

Any bets on fuel economy with stop start, 9 speed, revised V6 and direct injection, stop/start, better aero? I'll say 20/30, optimistic would be 21/31.

Kind of bland, but so much better than the hideous new Murano.

I was wrong, 90% of the WHOLE vehicle looks like a Traverse:

I was kind of thinking Pathfinder when I first saw it, but I think you're onto something here!

I thought they posted an incorrect photo of a mini-van; I'm not impressed.

I understand car manufacturers need to streamline their vehicles to improve fuel economy, but I wish they could find some middle-ground where everything they make doesn't look like a giant suppository.

I for one am glad they are going back to a more rounded design. I have the '06 with the Off-Road package and with where I go it is nice to be able to see over the angles better. The increase in HP to 290-300 is nice. I'm a little ticked that they show the Majestic Blue on the unveil, but then state that it will NOT be a Factory Color option. They did say there will be a total of 6 or 7 Trim levels and 3 all new color options. I for one and hoping they will have another Off-Road trim (similar to the TRD-Pro 4Runner) and a good towing package. These are the 2 things that stop me from moving over to a Minivan since I need the towing (with ground clearance) and the 4WD options. I personally do not like the push button transmission selector. The middle row captains chairs would be nice, but since that will only be on the upper trims (like the 9 spd trans) means it will be a premium cost. I will be keeping my eye on both Edmunds and Everyman Driver for their reviews.

P.S. - My short list for replacements for my '06 Pilot EX-OR are as follow:
    1. 2016 Honda Pilot
    2. 2015 Toyota 4Runner
My requirements are; 3 row seating, 4WD/AWD, Towing 4500 lbs.+, Hitch Receiver height over 14 inches from ground (see video below as to why)
(this has been narrowed down from a total of 24 vehicles)

This is one of the reasons I need the ground clearance...

I bought a brand new 2015 Toyota Highlander and had to get rid of it after 3 weeks. The highlander drives beautifully but the seats were so uncomfortable. Was like sitting on a chrch bench.

As for the 2016 hnda pilot, looks okay. Too much like the odyssey. Seems like the center concole lacks an arm rest. I have owned a 2005 and 2009 pilot and I was really looking foward to this new generation but i think I'll opt for the Acura MDX or peobably just stick with mu Infiniti JX35
