2007 Ford Ranger 4x4 (standard)

Started making strange noises when shifting into 4x4...wheels would actually lock up. Then would disappear. Now the light for 4x4 stays on, even when in 2 wheel drive. Help please!

there maybe something wrong with the internal parts of the t-case when you switch out of 4x4. It could be a u-joint problem. Possible that there's an issue between the two driveshafts. the tension must be released before the internal shift fork and collar parts can actually move. Also, check your fluid levels.
