Bummer news, but totally understandable. I waited 3-4 mos. back in '99 to get my Solar Yellow Xterra SE 4 x 4 with a manual tranny - talk about rare back when it was first released. Had a lot of good memories during my 3 years of ownership (many off-road excursions including an epic trip to Tellico and visit to the Smryna plant to see these things being made). Eventually traded it in for a '02 WRX.

Yet another 'Jeep killer' bites the dust..
Shame actually, as it seems the only one left is the 4Runner.

Any one of these w/ a diesel (in the US) would have been great.

Sad news. I'm happy I still have my 2007 Xterra - it is very capable off-road and comfortable on-road. I will never buy a Nissan cross-over because they really are not trail-ready. I owned an early Jeep TJ and my stock Xterra has been surprisingly more capable in several ways (horse power, torque, cargo room, passenger room, comfort, trail capability, headroom, etc)

I just bought a 2015 Xterra Pro-4X. Awesome! Sad to see them go but I'm glad I nabbed one before they say farewell.

It's a shame Nissan let this great vehicle die. I had a 2006 Xterra SE and absolutely loved it. I kept waiting for a worthwhile update but nearly 10 years later it still never really got one. As it got up in miles, I started looking to replace it and of course looked at the newest Xterras, 2014 models at the time. I wanted something that was as fun as the Xterra but something new. The Xterra just wasn't it. It was the same as my 2006 with a few more options. I decided to go a different direction and ended up buying the (then) brand new Cherokee Trailhawk. The technology blew the Xterra away, the interior blew the Xterra away and even its capabilities (unless you're building a purpose built rock crawler) left the Nissan behind. I always swore I'd never own a crossover but the manufacturers haven't really given us much choice. If Nissan had just shown a little interest in refreshing the Xterra from time to time I would have most likely stuck with it and may have bought several in the 8 years I had mine. There was no incentive though. I imagine I'm not alone.

I had my Solar Yellow SE Xterra for 15 years and just traded it in two days ago for a 2007 model with surprizingly low miles (48K!) I am not a Jeep fan and I ddin't have the cash for a Ford Explorer. Hubby doesn't like Jeep or Toyota so I was definitely limited. After looking online and in dealerships for a comparable rear storage capacity (this Big Yellow Truck was our hauler for all DIY projects and large dogs) I realized I was looking for another Xterra. I am glad I found one as they are getting rarer to come by! Love my Big Red Xterra S!
