I hope this doesn't disappear from the lineup - I see a "weak" DISCO named vehicle coming along - shame on them! The LR4 was the Discovery... Engine upgrade - sehr gut!

I gotta ask about the claim that the LR4 outclimbed modified Jeeps, looking at the street tyres the LR4 it is riding on.
The LR4 is very nice for sure, but these claims seem a bit unbelievable,especially since all the terrain depicted looks like nice dirt road.

There is no magic to off road crawling. Low range. Lockers. Ground clearance. And real tyres.

It would be great if you could get an LR4 on the LT fleet, and really test it out. My sister's LR's air suspension collapsed on her on the fwy. She never took it off roading. If these things fail on the suburban loop, how trustworthy can they be out in the boonies?

My family has coastal cattle ranch with very steep ascents. We have had an LR3, Sport, and Range Rover, and all three climb grass-gravel slopes better and with less drama than any Jeep wrangler stock or modified. You have to experience it to believe it. There is no finesse involved, just a smooth application of the throttle and steering. The electronics figure it out. The longer wheelbase is a big plus too. I watched a CJ5 with full lockers & MT's swap ends during one ascent, but thankfully did not roll. The driver and passengers got out of the Jeep and into my LR3......

Thanks for the comment bgsntth. Now I really want edmunds to get one on their LT fleet.
Any comments on reliability? My sister had a crazy failure with hers (see above, it was I think a 5 year old model?).

All three have been reliable. The LR3 was a very early 2006 and had alignment issues, but that was it. The 2008 RRS S\C was bullet proof once I had the dealer activate a TSB to swap the bushings for the active swaybars to a softer alternative. Once it hit 50K the eject button for the CD broke ($1.5K), but the mehanicals were fine. The 2008 Range Rover has been the most reliable vehicle we have owned - and still do. We have had to have the Rear-entertainment system fixed a few times, the radiator replaced because of a leak - my wife loves to idle and play movies and lots of slow offroading, but that is it. All three of these vehicles had complimentary service, and the dealer updated provided a lot of updates over the years. We will keep the Range Rover forever, and I'm waiting for the LR4 replacemnt - as long as it comes with a diesel and has an integrated tow package, and not the detachable hitch. We are a family of 5, my 14 year old is already 5'`11", and we will utilize low-range at least 15-20 times a year. I think the LR4 is really the only one that fits the bill.
