I'm sorry, I'm still not understanding the whole heating of the steering wheel thing. Is that something people are demanding? I've been in the car in some cold weather and while having heated SEATS is very nice, I never really found my hands freezing on the steering wheel. On the other hand, I DO appreciate having a steering wheel that isn't blazing hot (ie: sitting in Florida sun), but this wouldn't help in that instance.

Definitely a good point, though I've also noticed that the same thing happens to some leather steering wheels. My mother drives a Tiguan and my grandmother drives an A4 Cabrio, Both cars have very finely grained, soft leather on the steering wheels. The Audi's wheel is very scratched up after 8 years and 135k miles of my grandmother driving with her rings on. The Tiguan has acquired a few nicks on its steering wheel as well, which prompted me to tell my mother that she should be mindful with how she holds the wheel.

Anything in a modern car can get scratched or scuffed up due to driver negligence, no matter how good the materials quality may be. Just look at a lot of 5-10 year old VWs. I've seen plenty of Jettas with stereo buttons that are completely white from all of the black plastic being worn off.

@kirkhilles1 During this winter I would have loved a heated steering wheel in my 10 Jetta TDI. When it was below zero for days on end, it would've helped in the morning. My car gets parked outdoors and, being a diesel, it took a while to start blowing heat on my drive to work. On those mornings I could actually feel that the metal of the steering wheel underneath the leather was frozen.

I ordered heated leather on my Macan, and it was best $250 I ever spent. Along with heated/ventilated 18-way seats, it's most comfortable DD I've ever owned.

I thought the same as you when I bough the Macan - I didn't have a choice because I bought someone's build so I didn't have to wait 6 months. I live in the Bay Area so I thought it would be useless. However, after 8 months of driving the car, I've come to appreciate it! In the early mornings, when its below 70 degrees outside, it is actually a really nice feature - it's kind of like putting on boxers or t-shirts straight from the dryer on a cold night.

Is it worth $250? Still not sure if I would ever actively order it, but its been a pleasant surprise for me.
