The Jewel Eye headlights on our 2015 Acura TLX give the car an interesting look. Turns out they work pretty well in the dark, too.

I'm sure they work great, but unfortunately it looks like stereotype Japanese overstyling.

I'm glad that Acura is really embracing LED headlight technology. Some of Acura's competitors still make cars with standard halogen headlights. LEDs are normally an upgrade, if they're even available for a certain model. It's also nice that they're full LED headlights, not just low-beams like on the new Corolla. If only Honda could also be as innovative with their headlight offerings, especially on lower-end models and trim levels. One of the big benefits of full-LED headlight designs like those on Acura's models is that the multiple light sources in each headlight allow for a more homogenous and precise distribution of light. This is particularly important since most modern headlights have adequate on-center light output, but fall short when it comes to lighting up the edge of the road and the space beyond it.

The LED headlamps on my MINI Cooper are FANTASTIC! They are low-beam, high-beam and the also fantastic cornering lamps. The spread is ideal and even, with a sharp cut-off where it should have it. Not sure if Edmund's MINI has them, but on the dedicated MINI forums, they're unanimously praised as a must-have option. Also, they don't look weird like this Acura's inexplicable linear array.

Acura has been putting premium lighting on all of their cars for a while. Before the jewel eyes LEDs, all Acuras had HID headlights across the entire lineup. The point of the headlight design is to make them easily recognizable as an Acura. Caddy does this with their vertical tail light design and BMW does it with the round headlight design.
