That IS neat with the 2nd row shades. I wish we had that on our 13 Pilot.

Except for a very few, the 3rd row in many of these vehicles is not a lot better than the second row in a MINI. The most recent MINI is better, but I consider them to have a row and a half of seating, and I consider most of these "three-row" SUVs to have two and a half rows.

You really want three rows of seating? Get a minivan. A normal-sized adult can actually get in there, and fit in there.

I really liked the new Highlander when it came out. It's the best looking one yet! We were in the market for a new mid-sized SUV, but really wanted one with a usable third row seat. We did NOT find that in the Highlander! Toyota really missed the mark badly on this one!!! Not only is the last row unreasonably cramped, they actually set it up for three abreast seating? Wow! Needless to say, while overall this is a really nice vehicle, it will not fill the need for anyone that needs to haul more than 8-12 year olds. We moved on and bought elsewhere.
