The infotainment screen on Edmunds's long-term 2015 Volkswagen GTI is acting up. Occasionally it takes more than a minute for the screen to display an image.

Ah. For all the comparisons to cars like the Focus ST and WRX where the GTI seems to win out, it's still likely going to have more things like this go wrong than those cars.

VW and the Germans are clearly rejecting your country music

No problem, I'm sure your VW dealer will be happy to supply you with an updated version of the firmware for only $150.

Volume/Power button has same issues as the Mini with the icon spinning

Meh, infotainment stuff happens. I think consumers will just have to accept that like computers, these systems will occasionally hiccup.

Better than the still problematic MZD Connect system on the Mazda 3. A year and a half and a dozen software updates later, they still can't get that working reliably.

Must have been programmed by the same people that did my 2008 Jaguar.

Our outlet recently had a 2015 Golf GTI S for a week's test. It was as base GTI as you could configure, with the standard 5.8" Composition touch media interface unit.

The media screen often skipped updating I-Pod music data by two selections. The following week in a 2015 Jetta GLI, with the RNS-315 head unit, that screen didn't have such an issue.

Still who can deny the cool factor of the new GTI's hand swipe proximity sensor, which populates more icons on the screen, or the pinch and release screen zoom?

really want one of these but with my age and kids may feel guilty - wish there was some news on the 2016 model - hoping they get improved radio/sat/nav unit
