Our long-term 2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel packs a lot of range, more than 700 miles on one tank, but in slightly different trim we could drive it from LA to Texas before needing a fuel stop.

Here's an article that kind of already answers this question: http://www.autoblog.com/2014/05/09/hypermiling-ram-1500-ecodiesel-38-mpg/.

I think it's safe to agree with you that the Ram Ecodiesel would probably outperform the F-150.

32 gallon fuel tank isn't available on the ecodiesel. They cut out 7.5 gal. worth of space for the DEF tank.

I've got a 4x4 ecodiesel with 13,000 miles. Was hoping to get the 32 gallon tank, it was even available as an option if you built your own, but that was an oversight, was never available as there is no room.

Those gas prices are astronomical. If I were there, I would be all over that diesel too, as opposed to the F150, but here in Western New York I can get 93 octane (which that F150's 2.7L would LOVE) for $2.80 a gallon, and diesel is $3.30.

What a difference location makes...all of your fuel is more expensive, but your CA 91 costs half a buck more than diesel, and here diesel costs half a buck more than 93.

Lately here in the Chicago area diesel has been equal to or cheaper than regular.
