Yaris paint job

there is peeling off of white flakes, mostly on top of the car. what is this? what to do?

it sounds like the color/clearcoat portion of the paint has delaminated and the white flakes may be pieces of primer. there may actually be a warranty/bulletin advising dealers that factory will pay for paint repairs - this has been the case for other vehicles/manufacturers but i don't know about Yaris in particular.
probably there is no help from the manufacturer. so look for exposed metal anywhere. if you find it scrape/clean the area to make it shiny and eliminate loose rust - then paint it with the closest color of RUSTOLEUM that you can find. i do this for most of my cars, usually on small spots at the front of the hood, but it works anywhere.

thanks elias. i will look into the warranty/bulletin. wonder why the toyota people didn't know what the problem is. they said they never saw it before.???

Toyota paint, especially that silver/gray around 2008, 09, 10. Has been a real headache on all of those. Rooftops on every Yaris that is the silver/gray has failed.
