Fan Keeps Running After Ignition Turned Off

I have a 2007 Chevy HHR LT and I love her! However, I have had an ongoing problem before and after the Ignition Recall repair was completed. The A/C fan continues to run after the ignition is turned off. This has occurred on at least 10 occasions, the most recent yesterday. This occurs whether the single key only is left in or removed from the ignition. It is a concern because of the drain on the battery.
Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, is there a fix? I'm going to.contact GMC, but don't really expect that they will accept responsibility as for the problem being related to the original ignition problem. But, I can hope!
Thanks in advance to anyone who might be able to offer some advice.

Does the fan turn off after a certain number of minutes? E.g., ten minutes? Does it run on the same speed that the dash control was set when you shut the car off? --or does it run at a certain speed and turn off after that 5 or ten minutes?
I am wondering if the dealer turn ON the "afterblow" setting while they did the work on the ignition switch replacement. The afterblow is used in humid climates to blow air through the heater box after the car is driven for a set number of minutes to help remove moisture from the cold coils and the box itself. This helps prevent bad smells from mold/mildew growing.
I haven't verified it, but it might not perform the afterblow process IF the AC has not been used with the compressor turned on during that drive time. That might explain that it doesn't do it every time.
When you respond with this info, I'll look up the circuit for the interior wiring to see what might be keeping the fan on if it's not been set to do that.
