Wait...how can a 2-month stretch averaging 27.3 mpg push up the LT average from 28.0 to 28.6? Mathematically impossible.

@Fordson1 I had the same reaction, but it could also be that these miles have decreased the weight of the miles with bad mpg. We have to remember that when we are calculating average mpg, every month has a different weight based on the miles driven, so it is in fact possible. However, it could also just be a typo.

Maybe a typo, but if the previous average is correct (and it is), and the new average for the month of May is correct, it's impossible. You can't add in a number that is lower than the current average and have the new average come out higher.

No, no typo, fordson and djd352. Well yes a typo, but more of a brain lapse. After thinking that I hadn't included some of June's fuel log results into the April/May calculations, well, it turns out that I actually did. That should give you some idea of the big numbers Joe returned on his road trip in early June. This post will be updated, but suffice to say, the Mini dropped incrementally (0.1 mpg) lifetime after filtering out the June results.

Thanks...yeah - that's the figure I came up with. Wow - this car is really nowhere near EPA and not really near what I would expect from it.
