Our long-term 2015 Chevrolet Colorado has got some good towing and payload capabilities, but what's it like around the city as a daily driver?

Nothing to add that hasn't been said before about the size of this truck but I parallel parked behind one in NYC this week and have to say that this is not a small truck. Yes, it's smaller than today's full size trucks but it still seems plenty big (at least when parked on city streets). It actually seems to be the right size and I'm seeing more of them around so I guess the market thinks so too. Maybe the full size truck war got a little out of hand and automakers lost sight of this important segment. I'm sure Ford and Ram are working full time on jumping back into this segment. I also think the market's ready for a true compact pickup as well.

If the diesel lives up to the hype I think it will be an excellent city truck/daily driver; one that I would hold out for.
My son and I went out this weekend and we looked at all the new trucks on the dealer lots around my area. His favorite is the Chevrolet/GMC twins with the Ford coming in 2nd. RAM was a distant 3rd. Granted he is 11.... I still like the Colorado the best for the size and the interior.

Yeah, the Colorado is great except for it's rough shifting 6 speed, very cramped passenger room in the back (even in the crew cab) and near full size price. Drove one and thought it sucked. Far worse than my previous 2010 Ridgeline and made my 2014 RAM 1500 seem like a S-Class MB. Not sure why the Colorado/Canyon twins are so highly praised. Other than a car-like ride (most of the time), I found nothing desirable. Buy a full size or if a midsize is required, grab a Tacoma and get guaranteed resale value.

It isn't even close in price when comparably equipped. Figure $8,000 less, which is nothing to sneeze at for those on a budget. Don't get one loaded up with dubiously valuable options and you can get a 4x4 for $32,000 that is reasonably well equipped.
