No A/C, any info on where to check and what to look for would be greatly appreciated..
I have just noticed my 2003 Lincoln Navigator's air conditioning isn't working. I don't think the compressor is coming on. Any tips or even a temporary quick fix even as I'm taking a trip this week. Can't get to the dealer in time, any help????????

Shops have had to add external filters to their AC recovery/recycle/recharge machines to try and protect them from the sealants that people buy that rarely work. What's worse is that once sealant is added to a system most of the parts suppliers won't offer a warranty on a new AC compressor if a failed one should need to be replaced. One of the biggest issues we see are evaporator core leaks and they are primarily being caused by external corrosion. These leaks will keep occurring even after the addition of a sealant and that causes the refrigerant to be chronically undercharged and even though the system is likely to get topped back off the amount of time that the system runs undercharged causes the compressor to starve for lubrication and it eventually fails. When this happens we can't even repair it and stand behind the job because the parts manufacturer won't back us.isellhondas said:Oh...man...I have yet to see an additive that works long term and I would sure hate to gunk up my system should it have to come apart later for repair.
