Serious, not serious?

i have a 1997 potiac grand am gt and im noticing my car doing a little short reving sounds when i get to ab 35-40 miles per hour my bf says that its a small glich that its trying to shift gers or some thing like that i dont know much ab cars so if any one got an idea or knows anything ab this kind of problem plz let me know any advice is accepted

    If I am understanding what you are saying correctly at this speed (about 40) the torgue converter should be trying to kick in.

    maybe serious---torque converter issue is possible.

    The advice is possibly right about it's being torque converter. When driving at50, for instance, try holding the brake pedal down slightly until engine speeds up as lightly on tachometer. Then when car is doing that his slight revving touch pedal to release torque converter from locking up. If that stops the slight revving, you may have. Found your problem. There were some problems with them at about that time.
