What a shame. California has been leading the way in alternative energy yet they can't seem to provide enough charging stations.

Ha! I live in South Pas and I own a BMW i3 BEV (all-electric, no range extender) and I shop at Bristol Farms all the time. I took a photo of that old paddle charger earlier than you did and guffawed at it, like finding an artifact at an archeological dig. As your article says, the Plugshare app is the way to go. I use it all the time. The crowd-sourcing nature of it, complete with phone camera photos of charging stations and drivers' comments about stations, is great.

BTW, as of October 2015, South Pasadena does now have a contemporary EVSE. It's located in a city parking lot west of Fair Oaks Ave. behind the Canoe House restaurant.
