This second-generation 2016 BMW X1 is new from bumper to bumper. Although slightly shorter than before, it's significantly taller, a little wider and considerably more spacious. It looks more like an SUV rather than a high-riding station wagon like the previous X1.

    So, with the tranverse mounted engine, is this X1 based on a Mini platform? Maybe the Active Tourer? Things that make you say hmmmm.

    It's based on the 2-series Active Tourer (I think). Definitely not the old RWD platform.

    Why is this engine down-rated on power from before? Is it because of tradeoffs in the transverse mounting?

    Anyone see the 2016 X1's arrive at their dealerships yet? Anyone place an order? If so, please detail your experience and price paid. Would like to place an order in Maryland, but am not sure how willing dealers are to negotiate since its an all new model
