So, call me crazy, but why not strengthen the pedal as well as putting a cushion under it??

Great Idea - Light Bulb Moment and thank you for your much needed and appreciated suggestion. A few years ago, a woman was killed in a Toyota vehicle because they manufactured the gas / accelerator pedal in error as the pedal was too low to the floor and the suction made the pedal stick and get stuck to the floor. This poor woman was killed as her Toyota excelled more than 100 miles per hour and she could not stop the vehicle. Her son had filed and won a multi-billion dollars 10 yearlong law suit to teach Toyota a lesson as they first denied it was their mistake. The woman's son hired a great lawyer who hired NASA Scientists who reenacted the car crash and with other scientific data and findings; there was no way that it was a coincidence. It was in fact Toyota’s poor design that needlessly took and ended this woman's life way too soon. There were multiple accidents with Toyota's poor craftsmanship designed gas pedal accelerator.
