    That's good to hear. I'm surprised it hasn't had more issues. Clearly, it's a larger, more civil car that gets farther away from its "Mini" roots.

    If I'm reading correctly the 2007 was an "S" model with sport suspension and a manual transmission while this is the base model with an automatic transmission. It makes it hard to compare the two generations.
    I could definitely see this one appealing to a wider range of people based on those differences alone; especially on LA roads with LA traffic.

    New BMW engine, new BMW chassis, BMW F-series electrical systems and coding, I believe, have a lot to do with it. It's clearly a lot more reliable now. My own experience with my F56 Cooper is echoing yours: No issues, no repairs, no rattles. 13 trouble-free months and counting.

    Yes, and no. Base Coopers are all turbo-charged now, and the Aisin auto in this car is very well liked.

    I have the manual, and also had a manual on my first MINI, a 2005 base. Both are Getrag units. The F56 MINI has rev-matching, which is brilliant.

    Check out the LT Mini in Car and Driver.......it is a steaming pile of reliability Poo like most Minis are. When CD says something bad about any BMW product you know its really BAD. The 11 Countryman that Edmunds had was a pile as well.

    Just read it. Exaggerate much?

    They had a suspension issue that no one else has had, probably due to rough handling and abuse. Otherwise, the LT review was positively glowing! The rough ride is due to their poor choice of wheels/tires.
