Nissan Dunehawk concept
This has not been shown at an auto show yey, but Nissan has said that this is the way they expect to go with their SUVs in terms of styling.
Do you think this could be the next Pathfinder?

What do you think? Do you like what Nissan plans to do with their SUV styling?

One thing I hope the production folks do is keep the new Pathy a true and rugged SUV. Last week I took in my '91 to get the side window fixed. While I was waiting, I walked around the dealer's lot to gander at the new Nissans. Except for the Xterra and the Pathfinder, I thought the rest of the fleet was a bit too "plastic." I guess the plastic headlight/taillight covers, grille, and other interior parts gave me an uneasy feeling about the cars' durability. I want the new Pathfinder to have a minimum of plastic, especially on the exterior. Does anyone else think Nissan is cutting costs too much by using a lot of plastic in its vehicles?
I think Nissan will tone it down, but I hope the re-designed Pathfinder is a lot like this. I think it looks bad-@$$! It falls into the third slot of SUVs in the running to replace my truck in a year or so. The other 2 are the H3 and the next gen. Grand Cherokee.
I want a tough off-roader, that gets better than the SUV average fuel economy, while fulfilling my daily needs. I think the "Dunehawk" would be perfect, so I hope Nissan follows through!

An example of the failure of too much curve in a design is, while the Envoy looks nice, my '98 Jimmy's cargo area has more space for large, box-shaped items. Our Border Collie's dog crate fits perfectly into my Jimmy, while the Envoy's "D" pillar slopes too much, preventing the crate from fitting. Strange, seeing how the Envoy is larger in all respects.
It used to be only Americans give cars warlike names (Barracuda, Firebird), Europeans & Japanese either tame or silly names (Golf, Sentra, Scenic, Corolla). But as with exterior styling, Nissan looks determined to outdo everyone with aggressive names (Titan, Armada, Dunehawk).
