Please recommend me a car based on my criteria

I currently have a 2002 Nissan Sentra SE-R (2.5 liter 4 cyl). I've had it for 12 years and now im ready for a new car.

I have some very specific criterias that I want for my next car:

1) Must be a 4 door or 5 door and fit 4-5 people.
2) Must be significantly faster or more powerful than my current car (165hp/175tq)
3) Must be more fuel efficient than my current car (23/28 cityhwy mpg)
4) Must be compact size (no bigger than the current Corolla or Civic)
5) Must be available in automatic
6) New, under $35,000 MSRP and available in the US market.

I have several cars in mind, but I want to see what you guys would recommend for me. Doesn't have to be another Nissan. Can be any brand. Thx in advance.

Or, if you want a sedan, the VW Jetta GLI

Thanks for the suggestions. Interestingly enough, the VW GTI was on top of my list. The Jetta would work as well, but i am more a fan of the Golf styling. I just wanted to see if there were any alternatives that would fit the bill. The only other ones that would be close are a Mazda 3, Dodge Dart, or a Hyundai Elantra GT, but they are all lacking a bit in the performance end. Can you guys think of any others i may have missed?

Not that I would buy it, but a Subaru WRX, assuming they still come in hatchback form.

They don't; sedan only.

Mazda 3 might be a good choice with the 2.5L engine - 185HP.

I have an Elantra GT with the older (1.8L) engine; the 2.0L engine makes 172HP but doesn't get great gas mileage.
