Those are high profit items for dealerships. $800 for $5000 worth of coverage that you likely won't need, anyway.

I've leased several cars over the years (VW, Ford, Honda) and never once been assessed any fees for excess wear and tear.

Some people are vey hard on their cars. The have dogs, use the cars as rolling restaurants etc.

If you are in that catagory, this could be a wise investment. If you keep your cars fairly nice inside and out, you propbably don't need the coverage. I would think of this as expensive insurance.
