    Actually, if you're a "Click & Clack" fan, they did an excellent article about how to set your side mirrors to eliminate blindspots. After reading it (years ago, before they retired) I set mine up like they recommended and while I still check to be sure, I've never had an issue.But I thought Californians were known for not checking before merging...don't all y'all just point the wheel & go?

    Combined with a blind spot monitoring system and/or outside convex mirrors should help on most cars. On a convertible with a small rear window and not a wide field of view you might not be able to push the side mirrors out quite as far but on my wagon for example, which also has a small rear window I can still keep the side mirrors out and shift my head enough to see a little of the side and outside rear of the car.

    I adjust my mirror that way and while it does eliminate blind spot for parallel traffic. It doesn't always works for say when you are at an angle. Say when you are just turning on from the on-ramp.

    This is when Honda's LaneWatch would be immensely helpful.

    Set your mirrors correctly (see Click&Clack reference above) and never have the need to look over your shoulder again.

    The F23 rear visibility really isn't that bad. :D The linked method worked on worse cars I've driven like the Vauxhall Insignia.

    The M235i has the exact same thing. Either this tester car wasn't optioned with it or somehow they have it off. I use it all the time (although I've never even noticed any blind spot so might be just an experience thing). Having owned cars with *real* blind spots (Lotus Esprit for example) the M235i feels like a normal car.
