Yep. Amazing how while the technology has been offered forever, it never seems to appear on any models except the highest end trims. In today's world of sensors and cameras and computers, this has to be one of the simplest (but most valuable) features around.

GM has quality problems but they do come with really cool tech sometimes, like remote start that debuted in 2003 GM products. Their very first systems used the climate control systems to warm and cool the car. In Caddies they also turned on the front and rear defrosters, heated mirrors and heated seats in temperatures below freezing. Even by todays standards their first systems were very advanced. When you requested remote start the computer checked that the doors were locked, hood closed, fuel capacity was sufficient, and there were no diagnostic trouble codes stored in memory. They also allowed you to unlock the doors and turn on the other systems without shutting the engine off first. Hear that Toyota, GM's 12 year old system is still better than what you offer on brand new Lexus models.

Agree with allthingshonda. GM had been doing this forever on all trim levels using OnStar. It is only recently that other automakers have started to copy. I live in hot and humid South Florida, from either my phone or my desktop I can login to OnStar and remote start my car so that when I leave work the car is cool when I head outside. I can see how this is even more valuable during the winter.

Not just OnStar equipped cars (which has been most every model and trim except fleet specials). It's built into the key fob which is also better than many other automakers since GM uses a higher powered transmitter that works better from inside buildings and further away from the car. Even when you're not using the remote start feature the extended range is an added bonus.
