VIP Plans

My XC60 is getting close to 50,000 and the end of my complete warranty coverage. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to find some discounted VIP plans. I have been scouring the search engines and have found only one dealer, Steingold, that is mentioning discounted plans online. My dealer is talking about a 3 1/2 year or 40,000 mile extension with $200 deductible for $2675. I've not attempted any negotiating yet. Then there is the question of whether to buy it or not. My car has every package and there are many little doodads to break down. I like to keep my cars for 10 or 12 years.

While I can't comment on the specific plan, what you're looking for is peace of mind. Is it worth the $2700 to know that any repair will cost you a maximum of $200, given all the things that could fail?

It's an insurance policy, plain and simple.
