PCM Issues

I am trying to determine if I have a bad PCM. My truck starts and runs. However occasionally when driving the voltage gauge will go to the far left and I will get a check gauge light. That makes it seem like the electrical system is not charging. If I stop the vehicle and turn off the ignition and wait 30 seconds the condition resets itself. I have a code scanner and it does not produce any codes either in a simple check or in drive mode. I have had to replace one of the two batteries. The battery failed and was replaced by the vendor. Replacing the battery didn't seem to effect this issue. I have been told that on this truck the voltage regulator is internal to the PCM and is not on the alternator itself. Before I go an get another PCM I want to make sure that I am making the right fix. Any help would be appreciated. JW
