    Probably taps into the power line from the reverse lights? I can't really think of how it'd (as simply as possible) work otherwise.

    I'm guessing it taps into the ECU, which would also let it know things like speed, for use in Navigation, or for automatic volume adjustments.

    youtube install video talks about finding your reverse light wire... so at some point you need to hack into that i guess.
