Cooling fan?

I have a 2008 328xi and have noticed over the past couple of days the cooling fan coming on a lot and rather loud. I've only been driving short distances and it's fall where I am so temps are around 40-50. No warning lights have come on. Anything to be concerned over? Normal? Anyone had this happen?

Coolant has to be filled very gradually with engine running, to allow the system to "burp".5
