How about simply writing: "Corvette Z06" "Dodge Viper" "Corvette Stingray" "BMW M4"

Every enthusiast needs to drive a 911 at least once in their life. Old or new they are amazing driving cars, not the fastest, or best handling, but for shear driving enjoyment they are hard to beat.

@skynet1 - in my experience and in my opinion, very few actual owners of 991 series 911s are really cross shopping their purchases with a Corvette, Viper or M4. The Corvette and 'Vette (esp. the Z06) put up as good or better performance numbers but offer a substantially different driving experience. The M4 at least has two rear seats but again, while it's numbers on paper might be just as good, you only need drive one around the block to realize how different the two cars are.

Other sports cars offer much better bang for the dollar. But nothing else really drives like a 911 and nothing offers the combination of actual usability, comfort and visceral appeal to many of us.

It's kind of boring to drive, actually. Porky, but with extreme power.

They do. However, have you driven one? They're extremely fast, extremely capable cars that are, in my opinion, too focused to really be considered competition for a 911 even though they are faster in a straight line and around most race tracks than almost any 911 model. The transmissions are horribly outdated in the GTR. They're clunky, make awful noises and there's no manual option. The suspensions are way, way too stiff for most of us as daily drivers. The 911 is positively supple when compared to the way the GTR crashes over potholes.

All the credit in the world to Nissan and their engineers but unless I was only interested in magazine racing, I'd never consider a GTR.

I don't actually disagree with any of the feedback to my comment but the article literally says "Why should you think twice about this this car?" Certainly the availability of much faster and cheaper to maintain cars for much less money is a reason to think twice. Even if you think twice and then go and buy a 911 regardless.

For the record, my next car will likely be a 997 Carrera S because of all the intangibles that make a 911 a great car, despite its price. But, I'll certainly be (and have been) "thinking twice" before I go sign on the dotted line due to the availability of faster cars for the same price.

These look to be worthy improvements to an already superb sports car. The turbo engines, with their rich torque bands, should improve responsiveness. I think the pics of the cars are beautiful in those bright extroverted colors. Odd that in this country you see mostly grey or black cars, which tends to make them look dull and forgettable .
