Jeep Cherokee: Looks can be deceiving?

I love the look of these SUV's, but from what I've read there have been nothing but problems with them and with a price tag well over $30,000...is it worth it?
Never purchased anything from Jeep before. Everyone tells me, stay away from anything "newer" made by this company. "Newer" I'm guessing is anything made after 2005?

There were many problems with the transmission in the 2014 and early 2015 models. The people affected had to get numerous software updates and replacement transmissions. However, that seems to have been resolved as the late 2015 and 2016 models don't seem to have those issues. The ZT9 transmission is fairly new and is working fine in other cars, so the issue does appear to be software related. It was a new tranny in a new model, so bugs are expected. Outside of that, I'm not aware of any other systemic problems. Additionally, the number of people actually affected in those model years was very small. Remember, people with a bad experience tell 100 people, with a good experience, much less.

I just bought a 2016 TrailHawk and couldn't be happier.

If you need offroad capability, Jeep is good (with the right options), but reliable they're not. Been that way for years.

Anything but the original Willys 4X4 jeep is just a costume car. The only current model coming close to the WW2 era Jeep is the Wrangler unlimited.

All other jeeps are costume cars and pretenders. people buy thinking it is the machismo symbol.
