I agree. My BIL bought a 2015 Accord LX (CVT) last spring. That was the smartest $19,700 I've ever seen someone spend on a new car. My only criticism is that the stereo is very weak. A lesser complaint is that the rear seats don't split when folded down.

What your article is really addressing badge engineering. It's a problem that all of the car manufacturers have in common. To save costs, and theoretically lower the purchase price, they share components and designs across their product lines, blurring the "cheap", "mainstream", and "luxury" brands. What's the real difference between a Lincoln Navigator and a Ford Expedition, really? Or a Suburban versus Escalade? Ford's really hurt themselves with the Lincoln product line when it comes to cars. Between their weird naming methods and outright cribbing of bodyshells from the Ford Fusion/Taurus lines, I haven't a clue what they really are, other than really expensive Fords. Everything has pretty much lost it's brand identity anymore. With GM, it used to be that you bought a Chevy when you were either starting out in life or wanted cheap speed. Pontiac was for a "sportier" lifestyle. Buick was for the young executives that made fairly decent money but wanted something with speed. Oldsmobile was for the middle class families that still wanted a mix of style and performance. Cadillac was all about flaunting your success and style. It's not that way anymore. Even on the Acura, Honda couldn't even come up with a unique logo for it. "Eh, we'll just 'squish' the Honda H Logo in at the top more, and then come up with a name that starts with an 'A' that tests well with focus groups."

@dougnuts : What, if you don't mind my asking, is a BIL? I THINK it's short for Brother-In-Law, but with today's world, that could be anything just about.
