These two trucks come in for many comparisons here, but since you are based in Southern California, there is one large consideration that you don't ever address...the Ford is made of aluminum and the Ram is made of steel, and Dodge and Ram pickups don't have the best reputation in terms of corrosion resistance.

You tested the aluminum repair vs. steel repair aspect, but really for most owners in most parts of the country they will care more about body corrosion than they do repair costs...collision repairs are paid for by insurance. In the snow belt of this country, corrosion repair is paid directly out-of-pocket and differences in resale or trade-in value of aluminum vs. steel body vehicles similarly go directly to or from the pocketbook.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a diesel Nissan Titan...

could be a duramax GM midsize or new Taco as well... or less likely - 2016 GM half-ton w/ 8spd

Pull a big load climbing a hill and see how fast you like the ED. I could care less that the Ford gets less MPGs when it is so much more capable. RAM seriously needs to update its engines. They have the decent but low TQ Pentastar, the ancient Hemi and the super expensive ED that is outperformed by the Ford 2.7.
