The purpose of the hard headrests is probably to knock some sense into people that actually have purchased one f these vehicles.

Seems like many modern cars have the headrest tilted forward - I assume this is a crash/safety thing? For whatever reason, it's a dealbreaker for me.

I've had the same issue with the headrests in my 2013 F-150 SuperCrew. Not with the padding (They're fairly soft) but the irritating forward angle. My wife doesn't like it either, because she wears ponytails or buns occasionally. My solution was fairly simple. I took them off, flipped them around and mounted them facing backwards. I get the idea, that in the event of a crash, the headrest is pushing your head forward to prevent whiplash. While we call them "headrests" they're really "head restraints". My problem is, I sit upright when I drive. If I leaned the seat back, it'd probably be alright, since it'd be "propping" my head up. But I sit straight up, like an "L" shape. So it's factory angle never works right for me.
