No way to tell without a close inspection. Rust is a MAJOR issue on these, mine rusted out. Looks to be heavily modified, depends on the mods and how well they were done. Just a flashy paint job and wheels could mean a money pit hiding underneath.

So does this model and year specifically rust out?

Hello! According to Hagerty the 1966 Ford Mustang 2 door hard top with no major operating problems and no readily notable flaws in body or paint, garage kept but less than perfect show room condition is worth the average price of 15,000 to 17,000. This is open market value. Utility value on the other hand is what you are willing to pay based on how much you wish to own this vehicle. If you are thinking of buying as an investment, you are paying top dollar. Do some in depth research, nothing like being armed with accurate knowledge.

Absolutely! They are nicknamed 'Rustangs'. Rusted out floors, fender, and rear suspension mounts are common, to start. That's why an inspection is mandatory. I looked at a sharp black '65 in a dealer's lot - looked underneath, I could see the carpet! Lots of rust.
