interior light, rear wiper problem.

Hi everyone,i am new to the site and recently brought my first Jeep grand Cherokee 2003 model . LOVE IT. But i have a problem.The interior lights are on all the time,the rear wiper is on all the time. I have removed the fuse for now.Does anyone have any ideas.

Well it depends on whether the two glitches are actually related or merely coincidental. Have they always been doing the same thing together, or did one follow the other.

I'm trying to visualize (not having a wiring diagram, which is kind of essential for figuring out electrical "ghosts") where these two components of the car might intersect react to the same grounding short.

The only thing that comes to mind is the multi-function switch IF in fact the wipers and interior lights work on the same stalk. Do they?

If not, I'd tend to guess (again, no diagram to study) that the interior lights might be related to a lazy or grounded door switch. The wiper could be something else entirely--a defect in the wiper motor itself that won't allow it to "park".

Hi Mr_Shiftright. Thanks for your response,i checked wiring in doors and found a few broken wires,which are now fixed and interior lights now go off and my rear near side speaker now works. Just the rear wiper to figure out.

Good job! You'll have to get into the back hatch to test the wiper motor. I suspect it's either the motor or that section of the wiring harness that resides in the tailgate, the latter having a broken or grounding wire.
