oh right. I was thinking you meant on your wagon, not the old buggy. Does seem similar but the light on yours is better to show the color.

I like the clear blue color on your MB much better than the blue on the wagon. That wagon's blue has a lot of red in it, giving it a purple tone on my screen. There are some blues on cars recently like the Encore and some Cruz models before it was discontinue, but to me those are bright and strong to a fault.

    Maybe I'm just jealous I wouldn't spend the money on a G-wagon...?

Yeah, wagon is white with a brown on brown on brown interior . A very mellow color combo which suits the car but if a light blue was available, I'd really be into that, too. Sadly, the last light blue offered on the E in this market was chosen by almost nobody, and discontinued before I got my car.

My paint may have toned down a bit with age, or it might even be the old paint quality, or maybe the more gentle look of the old car.

Make no mistake, I could only get a new G if I won a lottery. And even then, it would be a non-AMG model - no bling, no big wheels with low profile tires, no big front bullbar that is standard only on US spec models (I think). Id be happy for the usually overmonied dopes who buy these things new simply for that they create a supply of used ones, but they have crazy resale value, so it doesn't matter much. I think the updated model might even still have a waiting list ~2 years after launch.

If I don't buy out the wagon or buy another wagon, shopping for an old one might be on the list, but I'd probably look into a private import of a diesel model.

Was at the dealer getting my wife's car serviced today.
Not exactly new, but I saw a couple picking up their car today.
They were older(70's?), Husband getting into the car while wife was standing next to him at the car door.
The car was running and she looked at me as I was walking by.
I said 'Sounds good' and she went "Ohhh Yeahhh'. :p

Finally saw a new C8, red convertible. Surprised it took so long, I'm a couple of miles from a big Chevy dealer.

on the highway today, a VW Crosssport. I guess that is just a "rakier" version of the Atlas? Not bad looking, but what a barge. There are a couple of Atlases (Atlasii?) in my neighborhood, and they remind me of Tahoes they are so big.

Yeah, it’s the X6 version of the Atlas.

    Reminds me of a Venza.

Vehicles like that are never high sellers... haven’t they learned from all the other failures in the segment?

Accord xxx (not looking up the name)
    Acura ZDX
    Venza

    Where are they now?

The only manufacturer that seems to sell wagons is Subaru.

Having said all that... Mom had a Venza and aside from visibility, loved it. Good lease at the time, too.

And Toyota is bringing back the Venza.

I saw more of them around here than I expected to after the original first came out, but not too many of late.

I looked at the Atlas Cross Sport on a dealer lot back in the summer and liked its look better than the regular Atlas. It really isn't quite the styling abomination that the Crosstour, ZDX and X6 was.

I'm sure the turn signal use and following distance will be beyond reproach.

At the same time, MB seems to have no problem selling the GLS, so might as well get in on it.

Isn’t the Q7 a competitor to the GLS?

I don't have the specs in my head, but GLS looks a size bigger. Q7 almost looks closer in size to GLE, and similar price point too I think.

The GLE is a tweener, I suppose.

Quick google finds these dimensions :

    GLE: 194.3" long 76.7" wide 70.7" high

GLS: 205.2" long 71.8" high 84.9" wide (with mirrors, maybe GLE is folded mirrors0

Q7: 199" long 78" wide (no mention of mirrors) 69" high.

I think this might be a segment where size matters more than position in the hierarchy. GLS is a bit larger and more expensive. kind of a German Tahoe.

Yeah. GLS and Q7 debuted around the same time, but GLS (or GL, as it was) was always a notch larger.

I think MB and BMW might compare closer, even the X7 looks closer to a GLS. MB and BMW like to follow each other.

I found something I really don't like about my 2020 Explorer.
Gas gauge is a series of 8 'chicklets'.
Right now it's displaying 2 of the 8 chicklets but the 50 miles to empty warning just started to display.
I have over 300 miles on this tank.
It does also have a DTE display.

Hmm. That must be a trend now. I had a couple of new Cadillac loaners over the last year that had something similar, with the extra added attraction of being positioned around the perimeter of the large circular main dials of tach and speedo. In the Caddy they were used for fuel and IIRC temperature. Since they were positioned on the very edge of those two instruments and thus were fairly small I missed even seeing them at first. Naturally since I'm old and these were new and (gasp!) different, I didn't like them.

We drive so little both cars have been under 1/4 for two weeks now. I last filled the S60 three weeks ago and the XC could be close to six weeks. Counting a 180 round trip for work I don’t think combined has been 300 miles in six weeks.

My wife hasn’t driven anything since Christmas Eve. It’s pretty depressing!

I could probably Uber everywhere cheaper than the two payments and insurance.

This will change once the campground opens in April.
