I don't know about that, supposedly the ZR-1 will be a much more limited production than the Z06. They were saying only a few thousand that might come with a mandatory driving class. That doesn't sound like something you would ever see stacked up on dealer lots.

I do agree that the GT-R is going to be impossible to get anywher near sticker for a long time. The reviews are waaaay too positive and it is a freaking bargain. I know I want one.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
If they keep production down that low, then sure.

A red Bentley Continental GTC (the convertible one) at UVillage, at first I thought it was an Audi TT, took another glance and noticed the B badge on the back, not as hot as I thought it woud look.

My first 2008 Honda Accord Coupe LX-S in white at Northgate. It was hot, looks way better in person. Probably an asian female owner because of those Japanese cartoon stuffed animals all over the interior of the car. Saw quite a few new Accords, looks really good and distinguished. Have yet to see a new Malibu...

Saw a couple new Highlanders, they're ugly.

Looks nice, except for the giant vertical crease where the C-pillar used to be. :(

    W221 S600 and a CL63 (or 65 - I couldn't see it clearly) today
  • lemkolemko Member Posts: 15,261
...a silver Mercedes R-Class. Do they still make it?
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
I think so, but it's a slow seller.

They priced it above the ML. Most other makes price their vans below their SUVs, so that was a mistake.

Saw a Maserati Quattoporte today, beautiful car.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,414
There are now 2 new style WRX living at my apartment building. I am also seeing the new design a bit on the road, every other day at least. I am surprised, given the blandness of the design.
  • teds1teds1 Member Posts: 180
Yeah I saw two new imprezas (non wrx) in hatchback form and I was truly surprised that anyone had bought one. Where the hell is the value proposition here? It's ugly, not faster, small, and pricey. Yuck get a mazda 3 or something.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
They're great if you live in the snow belt and want AWD.

170hp for $17k or so, well equipped, with AWD. SX4 is the only cheaper alternative with AWD I can think of, and it's not as nice.

Impreza looks like a Mazda3 so I'm surprised you'd say yuck to an Impreza look-alike.

Saw 3 new Highlanders today. They're on sale, apparently. :D
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,414
The hatch looks like a 3 anyway, that sedan is really Korean looking, and I don't mean pleasant derivative styling.

Today I've seen about 10 current S-class and a Bentley Flying Spur...maybe the economy hasn't completely collapsed here yet.
  • lemkolemko Member Posts: 15,261
...a new dark blue Malibu and a medium blue Suzuki Reno.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
I see a lot more hatches. I think I've only seen one sedan so far on the roads.
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,229
Saw one of the new ones this afternoon, the first time I've seen one in the street, although I saw one last September in Frankfurt - at the show...
Don't like the rear lights though....

Maseratis look good, until you see the Aston Martins... :surprise:

Out of all of the Italians, Maserati is the one I don't love. Somehow their styling is just a bit odd to me.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Saw 2 more this morning. They seem to be selling very quickly.
  • teds1teds1 Member Posts: 180
Oh I am well aware of the traditional appeal of the Impreza, I love them and the WRX (04-05 model) is probably my next car... but I couldn't hate the new shape more. I hate everything about it. The Mazda on the other hand is great looking, I don't think you can compare the two at all besides their basic configuration. I certainly appreciate the appeal of the inexpensive awd option but I just don't understand how anyone can bear to drive one of those things.

Also saw a Maybach 62 S two days ago... Now that is a rare car

...silver 2008 Cadillac CTS across the intersection of Cottman and Oxford in NE Philly while stopped at a red light on my way to work.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
First one I've seen, still had temporary tags. The new generation, too.

    I guess they're arriving.

That car stands out like you wouldn't believe. People were gawking.
  • gussguss Member Posts: 1,167
    People were gawking

    That's why people are buying.
  • bumpybumpy Member Posts: 4,425
Deliveries started within the last week or so. Did you see if it was from Tysons or Alexandria?
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
    Didn't notice, sorry.
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,229
Yesterday I saw two Maybachs in central London - a 57 and a 62 within a couple of minutes of each other..
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Saw one of these downtown late yesterday. Looked pretty spiffy so it must have been a Limited model.

They're nice enough, but over $40 grand to use a little less gas? Isn't that a bit of an oxymoron, i.e. an expensive way to save?
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,229
Saw one yesterday going past my office - not new, but about 2 years old. Still a rare car - I've only seen about 5 on the road.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Saw the GT-R in the flesh. Looks great, better than any photo I've seen could capture. Love it!

Saw lots of other new cars, too, but I think that was the stand out.

    The GT500KR was close.
  • lemkolemko Member Posts: 15,261
...reddish-brown metallic Scion xB. At least I think it's a new one because it had different headlights and grille from other xBs I've seen in the past and they didn't look aftermarket. What I found curious was the single backup lamp in the lower left hand side of the bumper.

I thought Scion was getting rid of the xB and replacing it with an xD or something?
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,669
It's confusing but the xB is being replaced by a new xB, probably the one you saw.

The xD replaces the smaller xA:

To me the xB & xD have morphed into very similar vehichles. The first time I saw each I was not sure whuch one I was looking at.

    A real mistake by Scion.

Got your message and removed the oversized photo, but my reply bounced to your CarSpace email. Probably some setting in your profile there that says you only accept email from other CarSpace email addresses.

You may have to settle for a link to the photo ....
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
The funny thing is the powertrains are now actually different.

Before both shared a 1.5l, now the xD uses a 1.7l and the xB uses a 2.4l.

So they look more alike, yet they're actually less alike. If that makes sense.

...new 2008 Honda Accord in medium gold color a block away from my house in NE Philly.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,414
I'm seeing several new Malibus on the road now...must be a good sign out here in Camcord land (although at least one did have a barcode). New Accord sedans are now a common sight too, and I have even seen a few coupes.

Yesterday I saw what I think was a CL63...it has a nice imposing look and screams money.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,669
I think it's maybe the third R-Class Mercedes I've ever seen. What a bomb!

I also saw the first new Malibu I've seen outside of a car show, a grey four-door.

    2001 BMW 330ci/E46, 2008 BMW 335i conv/E93

  • gussguss Member Posts: 1,167
How long has the R-class been out, maybe 3 or 4 years ? I have seen maybe a dozen. I think everyone thought it was a Pacifica rebadge.

    I saw a new Subaru WRX.....boring.
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,736
they've been pretty popular here in jersey. Guess they should have just sold it here. :)

I would say I see them about as often Scion xBs (both old and new) and Porsche Cayennes (to give to sides of the spectrum), and both of those are considered raging successes, no? The jersey market definitely seems to be an anomaly.

  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,414
Kind of like here. I have seen many R-class, even some with the fake AMG sport package. Cayennes are also pretty common here.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 265,514
I thought the R63 was a real AMG?

I know two people with R-class.. They had super cheap lease deals last year...

Well, it's as AMG as a minivan can get :P

I saw some low leases on those too, $349 or $399 I think. Still, not for me.

It seems to be my week for oddball Benzes. Today I saw a white B200 with British Columbia tags. Nice looking rig, even if it looked a trifle Japanese-generic. It wasn't that small, about CR-V sized, but it rode lower.

In the same lot I saw a Bright Yellow Corvette Z06, at first I didn't realize it wasn't a regular ' Vette but then I realized it was a little lower, wore BIG wheels and spotted the hood, scoop/slot that distinguishes the Z06 from ordinary Corvettes.

I think I'm starting to like the C6.

    at the car show Sunday!

I also was behind an R class tonight, and saw one the other day. Might have been the same one, since it seems they are all silver.

The other day I saw a ton of Accords all at the same time. It was like a convention. They must be selling well.

At the show, the MB C class was a major downer. looks OK, but the interior was lousy. Seemed very cheap, especially in tan.

THe Malibu, however, had a super nice interior, comfy seats, etc. Light years ahead of the old one.

I also like the Rogue. If I needed a small ute thingee, that would get a serious look.

My favorite though was the new Volvo V70. Man, I want to get the wife into one of those instead of the Minivan! $$ and carrying capacity be damned!

Oh, and the Jag F type looked really slick. Should do well.

I love the look of the new V70, but man is that thing big and overweight! Did we get the new V70 in the dealerships yet? Seems it was quite a ways behind the XC70.

A very interesting bit of electric vehicle news came up on the Alternate Route this morning... could lead to a whole bunch of new places to spot new cars :P

Looks too much like the Edge, in fact that's what I thought it was at first.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,414
I finally saw a R8 today...yeah, I like it. Seems like a supercar bargain too.

Also, a Cayenne GTS (I think these are new), about 10 late model Astons...maybe there was some kind of club event, although I saw them at different times, a few new C-class, and a new CTS...sitting at the Enterprise lot. Maybe they are using these to replace their fleet of old C-class.

I had a meeting this weekend with a guy at his house in Long Island. It was a nice house but not super fancy on a quiet street. However, when I pulled into the driveway his son was just leaving... in his new silver Gallardo!!!! The guy (couldn't be over 35) had just leased it and broght it out to let his dad drive. It was soooo cool sounding. Unbelievably I saw a black one parked by my house when I got home.
  • gussguss Member Posts: 1,167

I thought the rest of the story was going to be that your wife bought you one.

A Gallardo would be the car I would buy if I hit the Lotto.

I woder how much it is to lease one......hmmm?
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Drove by me today. Looks even better out on the roads. Thumbs up.
