Hi all. Getting ready to purchase a 2016 Odyssey EX-L w/ DVD and am trying to find the best price for Honda Care extended coverage. I have seen posts about good prices from Saccucci, Hyannis and Curry Honda dealers. I'm in Maryland, is buying a warranty online the same as getting it for my dealer? Is it honored the same way? Hope these aren't stupid questions, but its a lot of money and just looking for the best deal. Thanks.

Not stupid questions at all. When I did my research, Hyannis had the best pricing at that time and I believe it still will, but only by a few dollars, but either way getting Honda Care through one of those dealerships directly, tax free, will be better than any deal your selling dealer can or will offer to you. It is genuine Honda Care, just like your dealer would sell you, but at a direct cost and without your dealer making a ridiculous profit on you. It is honored by all Honda dealerships. This is right from Tellmethebest.com:

The only warranty you want is genuine Hondacare, straight from Honda itself. They may also say that you can only buy it from them, at the time of sale. That is not true either! If they ask, take out the lowest price quote you have. Remember that there is usually no sales tax on the online warranty. The dealer will need to charge you tax. So even if they offer to match the price, it will still cost you more. You can bargain for an even lower price so that it comes in equal AFTER they add in the tax. Or you can decide that the dealer was close enough, and go with them.
This warranty offers free roadside assistance. If you normally get AAA service, you will save money by canceling the AAA. That can offset some of the warranty costs. There are also some other smaller benefits such as free rental cars, hotel stays, etc. If most anything goes wrong on the car, it will cost you $0 to fix. There is no paperwork to deal with as every Honda dealer has a record that you have Hondacare, they all use the same database. Make sure to keep a nice, neat record of all of your maintenance receipts.

Be kind to the people you meet on the way up, because you're going to meet the same people on the way down.

Cars now a days are becoming more and more "electronicy" with more gadgets and safety features so it makes sense to get extended warranty than ever before! At a dealership, everything is negotiable! Talk to the finance manager and get prices then call another dealership to get their prices and compare. Keep in mind to compare apples to apples and be smart about it.
If you like the dealership you buy your car from, if you like the sales consultant, if you like the finance manager, then negotiate and they will do everything to keep you happy and make a deal. Car buying process should be fun and exciting! If you're not getting that feeling from a dealership, try another one.

    Well said, Ahmadski03 !

I had a terrible experience with my salesman C Irvin, and Fin Mgr C. Shotwell at Brandon Honda, Flat ! Both were NO help at all, cheated me, had no Monroney label as federally legally required, and made the entire experience difficult at EVERY turn !! Beware ! GM our helped somewhat and was mostly reasonable.
