@breld - this is the kind of stuff that's scares the daylights out of me regarding Audi ownership. Can you imagine pulling into the dealer with your car 500 miles out of warranty, getting a call from your service advisor telling you that you need new electric motors in your rear view mirrors & a new gas tank among other things.

I agree - No worries while I'm under bumper-to-bumper and then CPO warranty, but I wasn't very fond of the trips to the dealership with the daughter's departed A3.

To be fair - I think they're replacing the fuel tank due to their mistake of dropping the tool in there. I did a quick Google search on the tight fitting gas nozzle, and it seems it may be a normal thing. Which is exactly what I expected them to come back with at the service dept - I suppose I give them credit for taking it seriously and looking into it.

I guess I would hope that most of these nagging issues come up and are addressed under the original warranty, and then you find a good independent mechanic after that.

I'm speaking in general terms of course - for me personally, we can all guess the likelihood of me owning the SQ5 beyond warranty.

I like the Range Rover. Regardless of the reputation, there seems to be a segment of the population that loves them, so I doubt you'd have much of a problem unloading it after you've had your fun with it. Especially at that price.

Though it still had a dipstick, the '85 Renault Alliance 1.7L (DL convertible) that I owned had an oil level gauge. Car had to be on level ground: turn ignition to ACC, wait about 3 seconds and the gauge would register a reading. Periodically I would compare the reading to what I found on the dipstick. It showed full as well. I liked that feature but would not want to do away with having a dipstick. It was a gutless but fun car.

The Avalance I had from that same generation was one of the best vehicles I've ever owned. Sold at 8 yrs and 54K to a guy who works for me. He still has it at 120K and loves it. The EXT would have the 6.0L instead of the 5.3, so even better.

That's 1 vote for the Caddy.

The RDX has crossed my mind. I just keep forgetting to actually search for them. Silver on black would not be my choice, of course. It also might prove to be a bit on the bland side for me. I haven't had a good Honda experience yet. Always the logical choice, never the emotional one, and that proves to be disappointing after a few months.

Q, I never drove one of that generation, but you might like it. A little bit of a throwback Acura, with the Turbo, and more sporting focus. A bit more quirky. And in many ways, makes me think more Audi than Honda.

    worth a look at least.

and no, not my favorite color, but that one looked like the best deal. Plenty more out there +/- a few years and some $$. red or dark blue (or green) over tan would look nicer to me.

Interesting, it was at Curry Acura of Scarsdale, NY and then bought by Acura of Westchester (Larchmont/New Rochelle). These 2 dealerships hate each other. I'm surprised one bought from the other.

We had our 1G RDX for four years. Dead reliable. Shockingly competent handler, with the correspondingly too firm ride quality. Think first X3. Good seats. Good power but with plenty of old school turbo lag. SH-AWD, not the weaker slip and grip awd of the 2G. If you live near any twisties, you won't be disappointed.

Was there actually a 2013 TL stick? That isn't a typo?

The 2008 RDX doesn't seem that cheap. I do like the low mile red one. Though thought budget was lower.

On the new styles, why is a 2013 with 2x the miles the same price as a 2014? Odd. The 13 is my car, but in the 14 color. And we even have 33k on our 2013!

    pretty good price for CPO.

Budget is south of $20k. Lower the better, of course, but I'll wander up there for the right vehicle.

Interesting that they say the red one is a Base, and it is priced accordingly, but when I plug the VIN into Manheim, it comes back as a Tech, which makes the asking price quite cheap.

@mjfloyd1 - how do you like your RS7? I saw a black/black one the other day & it was sharp!

I really like it. I have the air suspension and 21 inch wheels and it rides well. Insanely fast coming from a supercharged 3.0 A6. There are even ecu flashes pushing up HP and torque, but for me, right now, that seems crazy. It has the sport exhaust that backfires and farts and makes all sorts of rude noises. I find myself driving like a heathen just to hear the sounds. That leads to absolutely abysmal gas mileage but huge smile mileage (smiles per gallon)
Unlike the TTRS or the RS7, the TTS and (probably S7) can use a tune if your a driver that likes high HP.

I'm thinking APR, I'm thinking this weekend at Socal Euro Car Show at Qualcomm since my preferred shop will be there giving 10% discounts with free installation (a $50 value as install usually costs that much).

I figure the Stage 1 tunes on these Audi's makes up for the overbearing eco/green nannies we have in CA, responsible for negligible emissions and lousy low octane gas compared to other States and especially Europe.

Just felt right on the S4, and I'm sure it will on the TTS as well. I had the REVO tune on the S4 though.

Q....love watching (reading?) you shop for cars. FWIW, I like the Escalade, same gen as my previous Tahoe with a bigger motor. Dead nuts reliable and a nice ride.

I liked that Infiniti FX35, too. Not many changes to those over the years and should be reliable. I've looked at those on and off over the years and they've always ended up on my short lists (just never pulled the trigger).

Bradd....that TL SH AWD with a manual would be a hoot. Too bad they don't have photos. They didn't make many, and they didn't sell well when they were around according to my Acura dealer.

The weather forecasters have a field day of it in the Charlotte area. Currently we are hearing anything from 0-10" of rain, wind in the next few days. It is always best to be prepared, but their accuracy in getting it right isn't something that I would bet on.
