Still deciding on swapping out the auto tranny fluid for some fresh fluid. Hate to be looking for trouble here because things with it seem to be fine now. Still drives like new with minimal turbo lag. Will talk with my mechanic and see what he says.
Just at 80k on the Audi and have a feeling it'll need a new battery sooner than later. Will be getting the 3-year alignment policy for the Golf next week as it is transferrable once just in case I do end up going with the new Kona before the three years are up. Been putting a bunch away in my new car fund so I can have a nice downpayment when the time comes.

Depending on what you rent, you might have more fun running premium and save RUG for the final fill up.

That is exactly what I did when I rented an Edge with the EcoBoost engine last year.

Are your roads really poor in FL? I couldn’t tell you the last time I’ve had a car aligned, yet I’ve heard you mention needing frequent adjustments.

No frost heaves, but the entire state is either sand or coral, so I imagine it shifts frequently (google "Florida sinkholes" for examples).

I always thought the roads there were pretty smooth.

Saw one of these in this color while driving today. Looked like it was wearing a fake moustache. I have no idea what the creative types in the BMW styling studios are thinking these days.

I see something like that, and I think to myself "Lord, how many people had to sign off on that design for it to make it into production? Have they all lost their minds?"

That’s exactly what I was looking for a few years ago. That price isn’t bad by today’s standards. Yes, if it was a LS I’d be looking for a place to put it. Too bad Ford couldn’t build bulletproof cars like that today, say about the size of the Fusion. I bet they’d sell a million of them.

I’d wager a Panther could take more neglect and abuse than a Camry, they truly are hard to kill.

For normal driving/maintained vehicles then yeah a Camry is tough to beat.

Chatter on a local Halifax message board that local Toyota dealers are telling buyers to expect a 6 to 8 month wait for Corollas and are taking orders on that basis. Some folks are saying theirs took 4 to 6 months to arrive. This astounds me. What is the situation in the US?

Today I picked up a set of tire/wheel takeoffs from a 23 Pilot Elite. Apparently only have 100 miles on them before the guy put on an aftermarket set. $500. With TPMS sensors. I’m going to make a winter set out of them. In the odd 21” size the Type S has, winter tires are double the cost of these 20” wheels. Makes the wheels free, and with more sidewall too.

Of course in California the delta between regular and premium only seems to be 20-30 cents in most places, as opposed to 70 cents to a dollar difference here in the Ohio Valley.

Today we drove home from a trip to Asheville and Charlotte; the median speed limit on the interstates must be 80 mph, as at that speed the number of people I passed and the number of people that passed me were roughly equal. The C43 impresses as a long-distance cruiser- my wife said she thinks it's the most comfortable car we've ever owned. It averaged a tick under 30 mpg for the entire trip.

About 10 miles from home, I noticed that the LR tire had lost a few psi. As soon as I arrived home and unloaded it I drove to the Tire Discounters just around the corner from my house. The manage was there and he told me that they don't repair run-flat tires (he must have been at lunch when the same shop repaired a RFT on my wife's X1). Explained that I had not run the tire flat -it was showing 30 psi- but no dice. I ended up pumping the tire up to the maximum number on the sidewall and drove it to my M-B dealer. I had to leave it at the dealer but the SA said that the tire would be patched if it was safe to do so.

As usual, I had to check out what was on the lot. I only found one car I'd rather have that the C43; unfortunately, it costs $130k more than I paid for the C43...

My coworker who also drives for the Mercedes dealer was telling of a custom order lime green G Wagon with a $300k+ price tag that was rejected by the buyer when it arrived. Instead he bought a black G wagon with a $200k sticker.

Ordering a loaded crazy colored car and then changing your mind has to be something only rich guys can get away with.
