Here's a head scratcher:
When we bought the Wrangler we applied and were approved for a loan through my local credit union. The Jeep dealer found a better rate through another credit union so that's what we went with. Apparently the dealer had also tried to finance us through Stellantis Financial Services and the application was rejected. Today Stellantis sent us the rejection letter, stating that part of the reason for the rejection was our credit scores- mine was 812 and my wife's was 796.
We don't have a mortgage on our home and at the time of application we had one auto loan with a balance of $3,500 on the C43 (since paid off). No late payments on any credit cards or any on other accounts for that matter.
The letter gave a number to call to get the specifics so I'm calling them tomorrow.
I did not realize that our finances were in such awful shape.

This happened for me with CarMax - I ended up financing through CarMax Auto Finance for the BMW, but got a rejection some weeks later from some other bank they work with. Same reason. My credit score is 835 and my utilization is < 6%...makes no sense.
Probably a boilerplate reply for everyone that doesn't finance with the lender. It could be you didn't qualify, because you already had another loan on the vehicle.. lol
At our house, that's called junk mail, and goes in the shredder.
Someone got a hold of my wife's American Express card number locally and used it to purchase an $1,860.06 paint sprayer from a Sherwin Williams store. I called AMEX last night to dispute the charge & called the store this AM to tell them someone fraudulently used my card at their store. The assistant manager said someone manually entered my card number to make the transaction. They said the paint sprayer isn't something that is in stock. It would have to be ordered and delivered or picked up... No harm, no foul, but people are such scumbags.

I'm not sure how my nearly 8 year old Audi TTS got me to Buttonwillow Raceway and back for a HPDE weekend event with the SoCal Audi Club this past weekend, given how unreliable Audi's apparently are.
For some reason, no Audi broke down on the track that I saw, and it got me all the way home, after 7 full hard sessions without even throwing a check engine light.
There was some damp, even wet conditions Saturday, which was fun. The Porsches, BMW's, and Corvettes all went into slow motion with the weather, as my TTS past them all. Maybe it's the SoCal drivers
To be fair, the brand new RE-71RS tires helped a lot for the damp conditions. They are more of a dry tire, but being brand new they were ideal in the damp/sprinkling conditions. On the last session Saturday when it really rained they were both no longer brand new and showing their limitations with water.
P.S. The rumble strips at the edge of the track are like ice when wet. The paint just leaves standing water on them.
Oddest track car of the Weekend = Lexus GS-F.
Well, of course not every manufacturer makes all their cars unreliable 😎
Got the rental today since we can't take the A3 and mine's just too small for the 2 bar stools & little she has left. Just as well not take the Golf to be honest, would rather leave it for home duty and keep it around another year or so. Reserved a Nissan kicks sized vehicle and at first, gave us either an Altima or a 2023 Honda Accord. Didn't want the Altima and the wife wanted an SUV, a smaller one, so she could practice driving it. They finally produced 2021 Toyota Rav4 with just over 55K on the clock. Drives o k but the maintenance light is on, no surprise there. It wasn't ready so they had to come pick me up in it. Super glad because the guy a couple people before me brought back his CX-5 saying something was wrong with the key fob. I could see him eyeing my Rav4 so I did the paperwork while they were cleaning it up so as not to let him skip out in it. He looked pissed when I said "let's do the paperwork now and come pick me up at home when it's done". My wife needed to get home to take our daughter to the dentist. Since she really wanted the Rav, made sure it was going to be ours. Got it for a week as anything over five days is the same price. We have to get the full insurance package but we only pay for about 56% of what others pay. that's what they require us to do if we use the Family and Friends option. Well worth it really as if something does happen, I can just walk away with them paying any repairs. Seems they no longer write down the amount of petrol in the tank and it's nowhere on my form so I just wrote it i and took a dated pic just in case there's an issue next week. Might just come home Friday from Orlando as the Accent is sitting in St. Cloud waiting. They don't really need me as I just am moving a bit too slow for them. Figure the wife can take the train home Sunday and I'd pick her up. I know my oldest wants me to just go home so am hoping she'll convince the other two as I really do need to take it easy. Started rehab yesterday, physical therapy, and he said that I do have that BPPV vertigo. Scheduled for either six or eight therapy sessions which should take almost three weeks. He was happy with what he saw with yesterday's session and I go back at 5:30 today for the second. Still scheduled for the AARP Senior Driving Class tomorrow but the wife might just take it online instead. She wants to go test drive a few vehicles which I totally agree with as the time has come to cut the A3 from the herd. I gave my input and now, I'm done except if she wants me to come while she makes the deal. Not even sure what she'll end up with as she's pretty confused right now. But told her she'll know it when she drives it...one just knows! I know I did with the Golf & the Civic though I settled for mid-grade instead of getting the top tier vehicle. that will not happen next time as the price ain't going to be a variable. I do think it'll be my last vehicle so I gotta get it right.

Luckily, I'll be gone the next five or so days so y'all can read other more interesting and easily readable posts. I do spend too much time in here as it is as I do enjoy everyones posts but might be time to take a step back until my health improves as I'm still suffering with the BPPV vertigo.
Looks like we'll be having a punch in here in the next few weeks. December seems the month we seem to buy vehicles but she told me today she's quite serious about replacing the A3.

Dropped off the Tacoma for its 5,000 mile service at the dealer. My son doesn’t need the Jeep tomorrow since he has no school. Since he’s been driving it mostly in electric mode, it is currently in FORM for the second time in as many months. I’ll take it to work and stretch its legs a bit to get those fluids moving around. Plus the heated seats and steering wheel will make a wonderful addition to my 30 degree AM commute.
On a side note, it’s nice to see many local dealers (that aren’t part of these mega dealer conglomerates) by me stuffed with cars & trucks to sell.

The County Attorney also has a JLU Wrangler, so my county may be the only one where both own Wranglers- which leads me to a devious potential prank... In one of my Jeep accessory catalogs I found a windshield decal that reads "Take your top off and get dirty" The County Attorney is female and some of my friends have dared me to get that decal and put it on her Wrangler. I think that there are too many CCTV security cameras in our parking area, but I haven't ruled out the idea as of yet...

Get a fake beard, mustache and hoody and go for it. You shouldn't have to go too far to get them. Probably half of the defendants in your court room have those.

That kind of thing can be misconstrued and become very costly for a politician. Just ask former NY Governor Andrew Cuomo.

I also enjoy the forum but mostly as a reader and not so much as a poster as our car buying behavior is rather subdued. There are many much more destructive internet sites out there you could be on. I like your folksy good-natured banter and I say post away!
