It's only been in our fleet about four months, but our long-term 2016 Honda Pilot has already crossed over 10,000 miles. Here's a recap of where it's been.

I'm sorry, does that say 14.6 MPG over the past 560 miles? Oh god. That'd be acceptable for a 20 year old vehicle, but a brand new one? Were you doing mountain climbing both ways for that?

It seems that when 3-row CUVs are in the fleet, there are multiple posts by editors wondering why people buy these types of cars. Then the cars rack up more miles than anything else in the fleet. Time for the editors to own up to the reality that American car shoppers are living in. These cars are comfortable, practical, useful and not terribly bad to drive. Whether they like it or not, Edmunds' editors have fallen for the 3-row CUV the same way so many American families have.

"Hmm...I have a seven-year-old to drive to school...what should I use? Oh, wait - she has a BOOK BAG, TOO. Better take the Pilot!"

If that's the case you may just as well get a Tahoe or an Expedition.

Hard to understand the low miles per gallon, unless it's been driven hard with a lead foot, I'd like to know what the backstory is ...

Although, it's odd to not hear anything about this vehicle for about a month, (what happened to the post stating the EX-L Navi was "the one to get"?")

Completely agree! I think the WORST I've averaged is 22MPG in the city.

Hopefully, we'll get some more updates since November or so it seems like they didn't like the car at all. It sure got to 10k miles in a heartbeat!!

A friend of mine just finished a 2614 mile driving Spring Break with her two kids (single mom) from Chicago to Cleveland and Boston and back in her 2016 Pilot (not sure if it is 6 or 9 speed). Indicated MPG (per the photo she posted today) was 26.2 mpg, pretty damn impressive for an SUV of its size and power.
