On cold startup there is a high pitched squeal; this goes away after a couple of minutes. When the sound stops, the engine power and speed very slightly increases. I am guessing it has something to do with making the cold fuel mixture richer.

Any suggestions? \

    The source of the noise has to be investigated, directly. I can "guess" that the alternator belt might be slipping and causing the noise but that would not have any association to a variation in engine power output. At this point it's likely that the noise and power output observations have no correlation to each other.

    On one of the other threads, there was a discussion about replacement belts. This is one of the engines that a lot of aftermarket alternator belts just don't fit correctly and trying to tighten the belt enough that it doesn't slip causes damage to the water pump. If you need to replace the belt, you need to go O.E. or with one made by Bando corp. The others just don't work correctly.
