Advice needed for buying 2016 Honda CR-V

Hello everyone,

My first post here. I am looking to buy a Honda CR-V. I have 2 questions which I hope someone can help me with.
1. I am thinking about the EX. However, I am also interested in the safety features of the Touring. Is it worth paying more for the Touring for the extra safety features. I do not care so much about the other features of EXL and Touring.
2. Would it be better to email dealers towards the end of June or should I wait for the 4th July weekend? I do not need a vehicle right away but will need one by the 1st week of July.

Thanks for taking time out to read and answer my question.

Some safety features may be more meaningful to you than others. For example, I would rather have blind spot monitoring more than lane departure. But all of it may be nice to have.

One advantage over buying at the end of June is that the dealership may be a bit less hectic that it would be on a big sale weekend. Inventory and color options may be a tad better. But it's hard to say - could be some extra bonus money floating around to move cars for the holiday.

Memorial Day is supposedly "the" holiday for deals. You may want to check that out too.

Unfortunately, Memorial Day is too early for me. It appears that the 0.9% financing option will last till July 5th, so hopefully I will qualify with a credit score of 750. I wonder if just buying at the end of June will push dealers in case they need to meet quotas. I guess it is impossible to know.

Yeah, it's hard to say. Car buying hasn't slowed down any.

The trend in the forums seems to be better deals on CR-Vs, especially in areas that weren't as aggressive on prices. But that's just my sense from skimming the posts, not based on any real data. And whether it keeps getting better month to month - no idea.

Thanks a lot Steve for taking time to respond. I think I will send out emails towards the end of June and see what I get. If I get a good deal below Invoice, will seal it.

Sounds like a plan - let us know how it goes.

The Touring edition seems to be the only model with the extra safety features. Will Honda add sensing options for the other CRV models in 2017 ?

Sensing stuff is typically an expensive option on other brands so it may not show up on other Honda trims for a few years.

But the safety stuff has a way of trickling down. The HR-V I test drove had lane departure and that's a very competitively priced car.

    Place your bets. :)

Sensing was added across the Accord model this year (2016), so I was hoping Honda would add it to the CRV next year (2017).

    That's a good precedent then.
