Has the Toyota Cressida become a desired car (again)?

Recently, I have had several people approach me to ask if they can "look" at my car. I have a 1985 Toyota Cressida which has been in our family since new (my father drove it off the dealer lot 31 years ago). When new, this happened frequently and periodically less often over the years; until lately. The new wave of interested lookers say they would lower the car, add air ride, or replace the engine and race it! Has this former luxury model somehow "gained street cred"? Should I hold on to it indefinitely?

Yes, the drifter crowd wants those cars. There's a pretty decent movement behind larger engined old Japanese RWD cars. The people who want it want to modify it or race it, rather than restore it. Although not extremely valuable, there is some demand for nice ones. If it's not costing much to keep around, there's no harm in holding on to it, they will only become less common.
